Texas In Her Own Words
Launch Set At Hills Café in Austin, Texas
Texas in Her Own Words, the ultimate look at what Texans think about being Texan, by long-time Austin radio personality Tweed Scott, will be launched at Hills Café (4700 S. Congress, Austin, Texas, phone:851-9300) Saturday, March 5. The public is invited.
Bob Cole, co-host of KVET-AM's popular "Bob and Sammy" Show will host the launch and book signing by Scott. Fourteen Austinites – including Willie Nelson, Coach Darrell K. Royal, Liz Carpenter, Cole, Austin American-Statesman humor columnist John Kelso and well-known Austin advertising executive, Tim McClure -- have made contributions to Texas in Her Own Words. All have been invited to participate in the launch gathering along with other Austinites who told their Texas story. They are: Shelley Bueche, Suzi Kelly Flatau, Dr. William Goetzmann, Jim Gregory, Clint Locke, Scott Rylander, Jan Triplett and Broken Spoke owner James White.
Texas In Her Own Words is the culmination of Scott's 4,000-mile search for the "T" chromosome and the origins of the Texas mystic. "This is a labor of love," says Scott. "Texas is my home and I wanted to find out what makes Texas and Texans so special." The forward to "Texas in Her Own Words" is written by Kinky Freedman, author, musician and candidate for Texas Governor.

The Meat Goats of Caston Creek
Good news for goat ranchers and lovers of rural living! Sylvia Tomlinson’s popular edition of The Meat Goats of Caston Creek will be updated and published again as a revised edition. A how-to for raising meat goats, this well loved title shares the joy of country living and insights into stewardship of the land and her resources. Sam Bingham (Jan/Feb 2000 “In Practice” Newsletter for The Allan Savory Center for Holistic Management, Albuquerque, New Mexico) said, “the book chronicles a journey of discovery that people, animals (even predators), and land don't have to fight to get along together, given a positive attitude, and there is plenty of help available to those who seek it.”
The Meat Goats of Caston Creek will also contain a section by retired goat specialist, Dr. Frank Pinkerton. Publication date is set for September 1, 2006 with early release copies available directly from the publisher later this spring at www.redbudpublishing.com.
